Local amateur astronomer Joe Hauger will be at the park Saturday August 12 for a stargazing night. The Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight. The Perseids are one of the best meteor showers to view. The chances are good we'll see a few meteors, and Saturn will be visible as well. We'll also talk about the upcoming total solar eclipse (on August 21) and where and how to see it..
Start time: Sunset or approximately 9:00 pm at the Yellow Medicine River Confluence (a short drive to the north of the Yellow Medicine River Campground). In the event of clouds, meet instead at the interpretive center for an inside presentation at 8:30 pm.
